London Theatre Guide

We've just come across a great source of info for all things to do with London theatre and we thought we'd share it. It is The Official London Theatre Guide.

It has the details of all the productions that are on and you can book the tickets on the site. Also, if you click on the Buy Tickets button next to any show there is a link to group ticket discounts. On almost any show you can get a discount if you get between 8 or 12 people to go (depending on the show). You can normally get £50-£60 tickets for £30-£40. It's a great way to see a group of friends and get the best seats in the house at knock down prices!

We hope you find it useful.

Loop-the-loop with your friends

Hugo, a good friend of mine just went on one of the craziest stags I've ever heard of: he got to fly a small plane and do acrobatics with it. Amazing!

Given by the fact that he couldn't stop talking about it last night I think it really must be amazing as it sounds. It isn't the cheapest thing in the world but you can do an aerobatics session for under £200 each.

Check out Ultimate High for more details and then get your mates involved!

Newsflash: Wigadoo makes 2nd baby

We'd like to say a big congrats to Uma, our Chief Marketing Officer, on the birth of her beautiful baby daughter, Amelie.

If little Amelie is anything like Uma, I'm sure she'll be organising her little friends in the play pen in no time at all (using Wigadoo, naturally).

Amelie is Wigadoo's 2nd babay after John, our COO, had his first child shortly after the company was formed, back in Jan 07. What can we say ... we're a productive company!

The race is on for baby number 3. The bookies are taking bets now (and the tipsters are saying that the smart money is on Nick).

Wigadoo Dirty Dancing Musical

A great girls night and must see for fans of the '80s film, Dirty Dancing, The Classic Story On Stage has been a hit on London's West End since it opened in November 2007; even before it even opened in London, the show had sold out for the first six months of its run.

If you are not familliar with the plot, it is based on the romantic comming of age film set in 1963, about Frances 'Baby' Houseman, who, whilst on a family holiday meets, dances (a lot), and ultimately falls in love with Jonny Castle the resort's rough around the edges dance teacher, played by Patrick Swayze.

All this occurs to a by now familliar '80s soundtrack culminating in the finale "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life", performed by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes.

The London musical is definitely worth going to see. Turning the film into a stage show is achieved through a mix of mulimedia, a series of LED screens, display video, stills and live-feed film, all adding depth and a sense of movement.

Visit the Dirty Dancing website where you can now use Wigadoo to organise your group to go and see the show. It is on at The Aldwych Theatre.

Who wants to be ... with friends?

I've just come across the coolest idea which would be great to do with a group of friends.

It's a "dangerously spontaneous, democratic game show" called Who Wants To Be that's taking place near London Bridge in London on 7th November.

You get 200 people in a room and everyone chips in £10. The room then has to decide how they want to spend the £2,000 raised via a democratic vote.

Here's what apparently happened at the last one...

"Previously on 'Who Wants to Be', an audience of 100 very nearly voted to sack the host, end the game early and put their £1000 behind the theatre bar. Suggestions included collective ownership of a dog, guerilla gardening in the City of London, and burning the cash there and then. Eventually the audience decided to buy a woodland. Each audience member received a shares in a (very small part) two beautiful Welsh and Devonish woodlands to pass on to their descendents."

For more info, check out the site and then get your friends to go using Wigadoo!

Live like Henry VIII ... with your friends

I'd like to share with the world an amazing experience for groups that you might never have heard about. Thanks to the Landmark Trust, you can hire a cottage or appartment in Hampton Court, Henry VIII's palace, for the weekend. I did it last weekend with a group of friends and it was amazing! Not only do you live in a 16th century palace but you have the freedom to wander around the entire palace any time you like and you can attend any tour you like for free for the whole weekend. (I'd strongly recommend strolling around the castle in the dark around midnight ... it's nice and creepy!)

There are two options for where to stay. The one we stayed in was called Fish Court and was an appartment in the main palace sleeping 6. The other was called The Georgian House. It is a magnificant house - from Georgian times I believe! - right next to the main palace sleeping 8.

In terms of cost, it wasn't cheap as chips but it wasn't crazy money either - it was around £100 a head for the weekend. You have kitchens in the accomodation so you can take you own food and drink and just have a great time relaxing with friends in a unique environment.

It was a brilliant weekend and I couldn't recommend it highly enough ... definitely one to organise on Wigadoo!
