Pledging different amounts

We've had a number of requests to enable people to pledge different amounts for the same event. For example, enabling friends to pledge for the ski chalet but not the ski lessons, or pledge for the country cottage but not horse riding.

We've been listening and we hope to offer this feature very soon. In the meantime, please remember that you can always collect less than the pledge amount (if people don't want to do everything), and you can collect different amounts from different people.

Please keep the suggestions and requests coming in.

Welcome Erik!

This week we're incredibly happy to welcome Swedish c# wizard Erik Rydeman to the Wigadoo development team. Erik's specialist subjects include test-driven development, German electro music and salsa dancing. Erik was one of the founders of the hugely popular pervasive gaming sensation http://www.deathgame.se, a game that pits friends against each other in a fruit-based fight to the death.

The photograph here shows Erik suffering the ill effects of an overdose of strong British tea after only two days with the company. He's better now and already beavering away on our next round of technical innovation.

We're still looking for a freelance web designer with some web 2.0 sites in their portfolio to work on an occasional basis, so get in touch if you know anyone!

Keep them coming ...

We've been delighted this week with the amount of feedback we've been getting. Thank you to everyone who's taken the time to write in and give us their comments and suggestions. You've all helped to make Wigadoo better for everyone - so a very big thank you from the team here.

If you've got ideas, suggestions (from the practical to the zany) we'd welcome your input. We're working hard on version 2.o right now, so your feedback is like gold dust to us! If you like to drop us a line you can email us at feedback@wigadoo.com.

Have a great weekend!

The Mayor's Thames Festival 2008

The Mayor's Thames Festival is a spectacular, free celebration of London and its river. Taking place over the middle weekend in September between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge, the festival brings Londoners together in the very heart of the capital to dance, make sculptures, listen to music, watch movies, drink, eat, enjoy performances, sing, play on the beach, sail on the Thames and dance in the streets.

Details. The festival runs for the weekend Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September 2008, 12pm to 10pm. Between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge. Both days are free.

More than three quarters of a million people came to the Thames Festival in 2007 making it London's most popular family-friendly cultural event.

"What a great event the Thames Festival is. The river is the lifeblood of our city and a key factor in London's success from Roman times to now. The Thames Festival has had an important role in helping reawaken our interest in it, and at the same time creating a lively and magical celebration", Mayor of London Boris Johnson

In 2008 the Thames Festival features culture and creativity from 37 countries, along with programmed work generated by schools from all 33 of London's boroughs. In 2008 alone, the festival will provide workshop activities in nearly 300 schools reaching more than 10,000 young people. Over the festival weekend a further 15,000 people are expected to be actively involved in the festival's hands-on events.

Organise a group ski holiday

If this year's ski season was anything to go by we could be in for a cracking 2008/2009!

I know it seems early to be talking about skiing in September, but the fact is there really are some good deals around at the moment for those who are happy to book early.

We talked about some resort ideas in Wigadoo your group ski holiday, so this time I thought I would write some advice for organising a group skiing holiday.

This advice will show you just how easy planning your next ski trip and get your group together with Wigadoo really is!

Remember with Wigadoo you can do whatever you want to do, we just make it easier for you to organise it.

If you are stuck for ideas, then some of our friends and favourite ski sites will be able to help:

* Neilson Ski
* Lastminute.com
* IgluSki
* Crystal Ski
and my personal favourite:
Cheese Fondue

See, we really can help you with everything!

The Alan Curbishley Resigns Vote

alan curbishley resigns voteJohn, one of the Wigadoo goblins who works tirelessly to ensure that Wigadoo users are able to make the right organising decisions, is a committed West Ham United fan.

So gutted was he at the news of Alan Curbishley resigning, that I thought we should have a Wigadoo Vote and see what others on the World Wide Web think on the matter.

The vote has had a little bit of activity, so I thought I would share it with you.

Click here to see the Alan Curbishley resigns vote. It seems some think it is a blow to English football, but what is your vote?

Eurovision Spoof Set To Wow the West End.

A great musical show that has been brought to the attention of the Wigadoo office is EuroBeat.

Opening on the West End, starting on 4th September for 10 weeks, EuroBeat is a glorious parody of the Eurovision song contest with a twist; during each show the audience gets to vote for the winner by text message.

It stars Les Dennis and Mel Giedroyc, with a recorded introduction by Terry Wogan, and 10 contestants from different European countries perform in a riotous Eurovision style singing contest, which ends whichever way the audience decides.

It is bound to have hilarious consequences and is definitely not a 'Nil Point'!

Makes a great idea for a Wigadoo get together.

Social Purchasing

We thought we should let you know that you, our favoured users, are part of a new brand wave of Internet activity known as Social Purchasing.

Social Purchasing is all helping people spend their time and money together. By making it easy for you to get your group together, we're trying to help your group of friends get the money lined up so you can go and book and pay for stuff together. When you do this, you are Social Purchasing (and I bet you didn't even know it!).

We hope you all enjoy being at the forefront of this new space!

Turn Your Get Together Pink for Charity.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity is a very worthy cause, their fundraising goes towards research for a future free from the fear of breast cancer, something that a staggering 46,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with each year.

So what can we all do to help? - Well, how about a party with a difference!

Get all your friends together, throw a party, turn it pink and raise vital funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Pink? Yes. Pink your Party is all about holding a pink party and having fun while raising money for Breakthrough. You could organise a pyjama party, office party or a hen party, it doesn't matter what, as long as you turn it pink.

To help support this cause and make it easy for anyone to hold a pink party we have set up an Pink Party invitation form which you can fill in and send to your friends. If you use this invitation form, we will waive our transaction fees on debit cards as a gesture of good will.

So turn your next party pink and raise money for this noble cause.

Democracy rules!

This weekend, one of my friends took it upon himself to organise one of the most unusual Wigadoo events I've been on so far. We ended up going around the Houses of Parliament on a guided tour ... and, even though it sounds a bit geeky, it was BRILLIANT!

You got to go through the House of Commons, the House of Lords and everything else you'd want to see. I'm not normally one for tour guides, but the guide that showed us around was excellent and really knew her stuff. I came away really feeling I learnt both about the history of the building and how parliament works. It took about 75 mins and cost 12 pounds each. An absolute bargain!

It'd be great for trying Wigadoo on ... if you're looking for an excuse to use it!

The summer tours carry on until 27th September and can be booked online or over the phone. Here's a link for booking and details.

And if you want to use Wigadoo to get your group together, here's a link to make it all very easy: Wigadoo Houses of Parliament Invite.
